With reference to Admiralty letter M. of the

24th instant, enclosing decypher of a telegram

addressed on the 22nd instant to the Commander-in-

Chief, China, on the subject of piracy in China, I am

commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty

to state that, provided the Secretary of State for

the Colonies sees no objection, My Lords propose to

inform the Commander-in-Chief, China, that They approve the setting up of the Committee under the Commodore-in-Charge, Hong Kong, as suggested in

China telegram No.627 of the 18th instant, a copy of

which was sent to you on 21st December.

2. This letter has been addressed to the Foreign

Office, Colonial Office, War Office and Air Ministry.
